Texas’ Gov. Perry promotes interstate competition at Bakersfield fundraiser

The biggest challenge to increasing domestic energy production, he said, is opposition to technologies like hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” the controversial but effective practice of injecting water, sand and often toxic chemicals underground at high pressure to release oil and gas. The technique is safe, he said, “yet you have a radical environmental sector that is keeping … people in your community out of a job.”
