In Case You Missed It: Oil industry provides much-needed jobs

A recent op ed by Cheryl Branch, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches, detailed the tremendous opportunities provided by California’s oil and gas industry and the need for continued domestic energy production.

“Activists have been agitating to end all oil production in the state with no alternative to the quality jobs that would be lost or the billions in tax revenue that goes to our communities.

These quality jobs are the kind of jobs that our city needs and should protect. These are the jobs that build and sustain a shrinking middle class.

It’s clear that the oil and gas industry provides economic stability to California. Ending oil production in California isn’t just a problem for the public sector, but also the private sector and all the jobs that come along with it.

Fortunately, there is a solution. We can continue to produce oil here in California under the strictest environmental standards in the nation, all while providing economic stability to our state and local governments, and supplying thousands of quality jobs to California families. This solution is a ‘win-win’ for all of California.”
