Fracking issue can’t be settled city by city: Editorial

The complicated issue of how to regulate oil-extraction methods like fracking is only getting messier because of the actions of cities like Los Angeles and Carson.

The latest is the vote by the Carson City Council on Tuesday to impose a moratorium of at least 45 days on new oil and gas drilling, holding up an Occidental Petroleum Corp. plan to revive an oil field near Cal State Dominguez Hills that was abandoned in the 1990s.
