Energy industry a safe, valuable asset for county

According to the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., Ventura County’s energy industry is responsible for more than 8,000 jobs. These are well-paying jobs that help support the state’s economy and a wide range of Californians — particularly minority households whose jobs enable them to buy homes and send their children to college, among other things. In 2012, the industry’s total economic contribution to Ventura County was more than $4.2 billion — nearly 7 percent of the county’s overall economy. These are tangible economic impacts that improve lives, create jobs and promote growth throughout our state.
