California Greens Eye Fracking Ban

Energy companies…charged that the ban could cost the region 1,000 jobs and $16 million in local tax revenues. That argument won the day with 63% of voters rejecting the initiative. Democrats outnumber Republicans by 11 percentage-points in Santa Barbara. Anti-frackers hoped that a victory in Santa Barbara could tee up a statewide referendum in 2016 that billionaire Tom Steyer might be inclined to fund. The defeat should put the kibosh on that idea.
